Anchorage Zoo

If you click on the picture it will enlarge and you can see his tongue sticking out :)

"Koda dogs"

The Anchorage Zoo was a hit with everyone. Baker really enjoyed looking at the animals and the "Koda dogs behind the fence". But, as you can see, he was a bit tuckered out after the long day.

3 Ft of Snow and Camping

Shane's new toy....I think not!

This is cool Uncle Chad

When you receive 3 feet of snow in your front yard you have to have a snow plow on hand. Baker got his first experience with this and apparently loved it (no boys, we are not buying one). After their day of sledding, slidding and mushing, they came home to more snow. Baker, Shane and Gretchen cleared the driveway. Then, some unexpected news happened and one of their friends who was visiting couldn't get home because the road had closed. Chad and Gretchen are very gracious. They offered to let Shelly and her 2 daughters stay at the house overnight. Now, Chad and Gretchen don't have a large home. Shane and Baker were in the guest room, Grandma and Grandpa in Chad and Gretchen's room and the hosts were staying on a mattress in the dining room. Where in the world do you put 3 more people? Oh, and they have 2 huge dogs and a cat! Well, for those of you who know Chad and Gretchen, this will not surprise you. They, along with the 2 dogs slept outside in their tent! Remember, it is dark at least 18 hours a day and about 15 degrees! I think Baker wanted to join them...see him with Uncle Chad? They're house was back to normal the next day and everyone had a place to sleep...inside.

On day 2 of their week long excursion, Chewedon and Sam were put to work by "mushing" with Baker and Grandma in the sled. Gretchen is doing a great job of training them. Then, they decided to take Baker for a little sled time at the elementary school where Gretchen teaches. Notice the hill!?!? As you can see, they have quite a bit of snow and Shane and Baker had a bit of it all over them. But, they sure had fun. And to end the fun, Baker had a little play time at the play ground with the dogs of course.

Skiing at Alyeska

The magic carpet, with Uncle Chad looking on for support

One their first day in Alaska, Aunt Gretchen and Uncle Chad took the family to Alyeska for a little skiing. Baker was very excited about it, especially since he would be skiing with his daddy. They had a "magic carpet ride" for the little ones to walk on. This helped them to get to the top a little easier. It was pretty much blizzard like conditions, but they all had a blast. Shane and Baker even went thru a few tunnels.

Valentine's Day

Last year, our house was almost finished. We decided to have a picnic in our soon to be family room. We sat on the hard floor with a blanket and ate pizza. This year we decided to relive the new tradition. The only difference is that we had carpet this year instead of a blanket. And, the house is a mess because Baker and Shane were leaving for AK the next day (see the laundry basket). We hope you all had some time with loved ones.

A Day at the Park

Baker loves to ride his trike! He is such a lucky little boy because he has 2 of them. One stays here and one stays at Grandpa's for their Friday hang out days. Here is Baker at the local park riding around on his trike. And, check out the new helmet...thanks Aunt Gretchen and Uncle Chad!

I Think I Can Do That....

Baker loves to say that to us. We will ask him to let Koda off the porch and he stops what he is doing, walks over to the slider and says "I think I can do that." So, I promise you that this weekend I will update the blog with some new pictures. I have some from his first time on skis at Mt Baker a few weekends ago and today he went to the Children's Museum with Grandma and Grandpa. I hope to have a lot of pictures to post. So, I think I can do that....
