Our perfect angel arrived 9-23-08 (thank you babe for doing such a great job posting the status on the previous post). As with Baker, we couldn't have an easy birth process. Baby Green was not ready to enter the world, even after I was 100% ready and contractions were right on top of each other. Baby Green wasn't handling the contractions well and the heartbeat was dropping down in the 50's. Dr. Tu was very concerned and said "Erika on the next contraction we are pushing." I thought wow, I am not really ready to push, but your the professional (I just didn't have that need to push). After about 3 pushes, the heartbeat was dropping again. Dr. Tu said, "we need to get this baby out as quickly as possible. I want you to push as hard and fast as you can." Of course I was ready, willing and able. I pushed hard and didn't take much of a break between 10 second counts. After the first deep push, Dr. Tu said "Erika, I need you to push HARD because I want this baby out on the next push." I thought I was going to bust blood vessels in my face because I was pushing so hard. Well, that didn't happen. After 6 pushes and 17 minutes, Baby Green entered the world. After about 5 seconds we heard the cry. Shane was trying to determine the sex, as the legs were crossed and the cord was in the way. He thought Baby Green was a boy until Dr. Tu held up Baby Green and said "surprise, it's a girl!" Instantly I was crying, Shane was crying, the Grandma's ran out of the room with their cell phones in hand to call the 50 people that were waiting to hear the news and the nurses were handing me our beautiful baby girl!

Childbirth in itself is very difficult on the mother, I can't imagine how it is for the baby. With the hard, fast pushing that I had to do, Makenzie did get some pretty deep scrapes on her head from my pelvic bone and her face was a bit swollen (what do you expect when you are coming thru the birth canal)? But, she is still our perfect, beautiful girl! We are so blessed to have such beautiful children!

You might wonder what the pink donuts are for? Well, when Baker was born Shane tried to find blue donuts to take to his work crews (you can't really have cigars on the construction sites). He didn't have any luck last time, so this time he decided to call ahead to the bakery after Makenzie was born. He showed up this morning to 24 pink donuts that he delivered to a couple of his job sites as well as the bank. How perfect is that???

Corn Maze

The blind leading the blind :)

The 3.5 of us...

We decided to take Baker to a corn maze last weekend. It was really hot (for me), but Baker had a great time. We just wanted to make sure that we did something really fun on our last weekend of just the 3 of us.

Baby Green Belly Shots

**Be warned there are a couple of bare belly shots**

We took these very last minute belly shots before Baby Green decides to make an entrance. I wanted to have some for us personally, but thought I would share a few. Please don't enlarge them - you will regret it :) If I could figure out my photo program I would have hidden some of the very unattractive marks!

New Numbers - 3 and 70

Well, I went to see my doctors nurse today because the doctor was on-call and busy delivering other babies (not ours). The nurse said that I am dilated to 3cm and 70% effaced. She asked if I wanted to be induced and I seriously was having the hardest time making a decision. The best pro would be that my doctor would be there to deliver Baby Green, but then I felt like I was changing what Baby Green has in mind for a birth - day. Regardless the doctor said that she would not let me go any longer than 1 week overdue. After toying with the decision, I have decided to wait and see what Baby Green decides. This does add some stress to me because I am already paranoid that she/he isn't 100% perfect. Baker had breathing problems when he was born because the cord was wrapped around his neck. He had to stay in the nursery for the 2 days hooked up to tubes, etc. It scared us so much, but he is & has been 100% perfection. Baby Green is moving around, so I think he/she is just getting snuggled in. Hopefully Baby Green will decide to make an appearance very soon so Mom's mind can be put at ease, Dad can finally sleep thru the night (without all the bathroom breaks) and Baker will have his firetruck!
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We really look forward to meeting you Baby Green!!!

40.1 Weeks

Thanks everyone for checking on me...but still no baby! I thought maybe last night we would have a little action, but when I woke up this morning I realized I AM STILL PREGNANT! So, nothing new, just still very pregnant. I have an appointment tomorrow with the doctor. I will post after the appointment, unless of course something happens tonight (please pray), to let you know how things are moving along - or out! :) I'm pretty convinced that the timing is off and I have another month to go! OH GOD NO! I think my husband might divorce me if that is the case. Thank god yesterday we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary :)

39.6 Weeks

Hi All,

Well, I am officially at 39.6 weeks (tomorrow is our due date along with our 8th wedding anniversary and my dad's birthday). I don't think there is any sign that Baby Green will be coming anytime soon. I feel like he/she is very comfortable and wants to stay wrapped up in their home as long as possible. Tomorrow I have a non-stress test to find out how the baby is doing and then another doctor appointment on Thursday. Lets just hope that I see the doctor earlier than Thursday - at the hospital!

I have some "belly" shots to share, but having trouble with uploading them. So, I will get them posted as soon as possible. Until then...we'll keep you posted!
